Running Backs Carlos Hyde and Matt Breida

There isn’t much to cheer about regarding the 49ers offense in Week 2, although propping up the running game is certainly something we can do.

Running backs Carlos Hyde and Matt Breida each had great games against a tough Seahawks run defense. Hyde was San Francisco’s best offensive weapon, notching 124 yards on 15 carries — an average of 8.3 yards per carry.

Hyde’s biggest highlight, a 61-yard run, certainly attests to how well the Niners’ ground game can perform when it’s firing on all cylinders:

Not to be outdone, Breida managed 35 yards on four carries, averaging better than Hyde with 8.8 yards per attempt.

A week ago, San Francisco’s running game struggled to get going. This week is certainly a step in the right direction and indication the 49ers might have something to work with on the ground if all units can execute properly enough.

Needless to say, both Hyde and Breida saw their stock increase a whole lot in Week 2.
