Javorius Allen (BAL)

Javorius “Buck” Allen has one of the coolest nicknames in the NFL. He is going to live up to that nickname this week for Baltimore. Another injury leads to this add off the waiver wire. Danny Woodhead was placed on injured reserve this week and is out until at least Week 10.

Allen will immediately step into the receiving-running back role for the Ravens offense, as well as the backup to starter Terrance West. Allen is going to see at least 10 touches this game and more in weeks to come if he produces well.

He is owned in 7.1 percent of ESPN leagues and is on a team that wants to be balanced, offensively. Quarterback Joe Flacco is coming off a back injury, and Baltimore leaned heavily on their rushing attack Week 1.

West is going to get the starting job and most of the carries, but he is not someone I trust all that much. Allen is going to get every opportunity to impress over the next nine weeks. He has to find a role on this offense.

Five catches and five rushes doesn’t seem like much in the stat columns, but it’s what Allen does with those opportunities. Allen was the forgotten man in the Baltimore Ravens back field last year. People forget that he had a game in 2015 where he caught twelve passes for over 100 yards.

Not saying that will happen again, but that type of production isn’t by accident. In deeper fantasy football leagues, he is a definite waiver add with great upside.
