No. 4: Keith Reaser

Even though Keith Reaser doesn’t win out in the No. 2 spot, according to this projection, the 49ers still are likely to keep him around on the roster as a reserve option.

Reaser has the versatility to play on the outside, as well as moving into the slot if need be. This makes the fourth-year veteran a primary backup to either two starting spots and the nickel duties.

A knee injury has sidelined Reaser a bit at practice, and who knows if this has been a factor in the cornerback sliding down the depth chart a bit. Yet the Niners are in a situation where they can benefit from keeping Reaser around this season until better options present themselves.

One of those is rookie corner Ahkello Witherspoon, who rounds out the final spot on our depth chart.
