Super Bowl XXIV Win Against Broncos
The 49ers win against the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXIV was more than just a standard victory. The 49ers absolutely embarrassed the Broncos, winning the game 55-10. The win was the team’s second consecutive Super Bowl and established the 49ers as the dominant team of the time.
The game was played on January 29, 1990 in the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. George Seifert had recently taken the reigns as head coach following Bill Walsh’s retirement after winning his third Super Bowl.
Quarterback Joe Montana threw for five touchdown passes and current 49ers running backs coach Tom Rathman added two touchdowns rushing. From start to finish, the 49ers offense was in complete control.
Montana won the Most Valuable Player award, this time outperforming Denver Broncos Hall of Fame QB John Elway. Montana once again shined against the best competition in the brightest of stages.
The game makes this list as an absolute dominant performance by a 49ers team that didn’t skip a beat after Walsh’s retirement. The 49ers were an organization prepared for success regardless of who followed Walsh.
