  • Linebacker Telvin Smith

Deal: 5 years, $57.7 million — $11.5 million/year

Space left: $42. 8 million

This too would be the final component to a potentially devastating unit — the linebacking corps this time. Telvin Smith would be added to a group that features NaVorro Bowman, Reuben Foster and Malcolm Smith. In the 4-3 scheme Telvin Smith would likely replace Malcolm Smith, forming a starting cast of Bowman, Foster and T. Smith.

Smith would be an immediate asset to the 49ers defense, with his side-to-sideline ability and pass coverage. Not to mention, he has speed as well — Smith clocked 4.52 for the 40-yard dash at his combine workout.
