Joe Montana, Quarterback

Career Stats with 49ers: 35,124 passing yards, 244 passing touchdowns, 123 interceptions, 63.7 completion percentage, 93.5 passer rating, 414 carries, 1,595 rushing yards, 20 rushing touchdowns

No 49ers monument would be complete without the greatest quarterback of all time, Hall of Famer Joe Montana.

Yes, he’s still the G.O.A.T. No one is going to convince Niners fans otherwise.

Just think about it. Over four Super Bowls, Montana never tossed an interception. That’s not something a fan can say about the other G.O.A.T.-like QB Montana is compared to these days.

Montana’s exemplary Super Bowl record stands alone, and up-and-coming quarterbacks can still look back to his game-winning drive in Super Bowl XXIII over the Cincinnati Bengals as a playoff clinic how to operate under pressure when it counts the most.

Yes, “Joe Cool” is as big a part of Niners lore as any other player in franchise history. The only question is where to place him on Mt. Rushmore for San Francisco.

Cropping Montana’s head over President Abraham Lincoln seems to be a nice fit here.
