Matt Ryan. . Atlanta Falcons. 3. team. 44.

So how can the MVP of the NFL last season not make the cut as the No. 1 quarterback on this power rankings list?

Well, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is a fine commodity to have. Heck, he tore up the league last year with nearly 5,000 passing yards, 38 touchdowns against seven interceptions and a league-leading 117.1 passer rating.

That’s elite. Forget all the NASCAR lookalike stuff.

Of course, a lot of the credit goes to All-Pro wide receiver Julio Jones. But Ryan did more than enough to distribute the wealth, netting fellow wideouts Mohamed Sanu and Taylor Gabriel over 500 receiving yards apiece.

Things will be slightly different this year, especially coming off a heartbreaking loss in Super Bowl LI.

But there’s little reason to assume Ryan will suffer any sort of dramatic drop off heading into 2017.
