San Francisco 49ers: Winners and losers from first week of OTAs
By Peter Panacy
Winner: Cornerback Keith Reaser
Veteran cornerback Keith Reaser may have been another one of those players on the fringe of making the roster.

But, according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat’s Grant Cohn, Reaser was practicing with first-team units alongside second-year pro Rashard Robinson.
It’s hard to read too much into Cohn’s report, suggesting Reaser may be a Week 1 starter here. OTAs frequently call for players to switch spots and work with different units over the course of practice.
Yet Reaser’s biggest competition figures to be fellow corner Dontae Johnson, who seemingly disappeared from the 49ers’ plans a year ago. It’s looking as if that may be the case once again.
San Francisco invested a third-round pick in former Colorado corner Ahkello Witherspoon. But Witherspoon may not start right away, opening up the door for Reaser to assume starter’s duties early in 2017.
And, at the worst, it’s looking like Reaser won’t be in that much jeopardy of losing a roster spot after all.
