WR Pierre Garcon

When you take a good look at what Kyle Shanahan values in a wide receiver, you will discover a love for guys who can create space from coverage with superior route-running ability and aggressive possession skills.

Pierre Garcon is the definition of what these traits look like.

Not only is Garcon on of the most polished route-runners in the league, he is undoubtedly the very best possession receiver also. With 79 receptions last year, and one drop paired with a violent play style and ability to move the chains, Garcon can be the go-to guy in any situation with speedy receivers taking the top off of defenses this year. If the ball is catchable, he will catch and fight for yardage on every play.

I talked in detail about how this could play out in part two of the ongoing five-part Niner Noise series highlighting the new 49ers passing game that you may read here.

With all the speed acquired in the offseason, and the multitudes of receiving ability out of the backfield and slot, Garcon could prove to be the most important receiver on the field with his ability to keep plays alive and defenders in check.
