Round 5, No. 177 Overall

Trent Taylor, WR LA Tech — C+

Based on production in college, there isn’t much better than Louisiana Tech wideout Trent Taylor. He led the FBS with 1,803 yards receiving in 2016.

Although Taylor is small in stature (5-foot-8) and is more quick than fast, he makes it up with good route-running skills and projects as a immediate impact kick returner, something lacking last year.

There were other big-bodied receivers available here on the board I think would fit better for answering the Niners’ red-zone deficiencies. But given the offseason additions of Pierre Garcon, Marquise Goodwin and Aldrick Robinson, this is a good pick up late in the fifth round.
