San Francisco 49ers: Post-NFL Draft Win, Loss Predictions for 2017 Season
By Peter Panacy
Week 16 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars might be changing their identity on offense with the addition of standout LSU running back Leonard Fournette in Round 1.
He’s a game-changer, but one might like to think what happens when he’s reintroduced to 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster:
OK, that’s just one play and at the college level. But the Jaguars are still going to be pretty bad as long as Blake Bortles is quarterback. Yes, their defense is good. It’s just not good enough to overcome the offensive deficiencies.
A 3-13 record would attest to that.
Why Jacksonville Wins
At this point, any of the Jaguars’ wins this upcoming season will be in spite of Bortles, not because of him.
So that means a big game for Fournette, and he’s capable of doing so.
Jacksonville’s defense might actually click this season, which could spell trouble for the Niners. Especially through the air, as the Jaguars actually have a decent secondary.
Why San Francisco Wins
Jacksonville’s offensive line benefits from the addition of offensive tackle Cam Robinson. But it’s still a porous unit. And one has to think Foster knows enough of Fournette’s tendencies to game plan effectively.
Like a number of other games, the 49ers simply have to take Fournette out of the picture and let Bortles play his game, which isn’t very good.
