NFL Power Rankings: 2017 Pre-NFL Draft Look at All 32 Teams
By Peter Panacy
The 49ers jump a couple of spots largely due to the addition of a number of offensive free agents which, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport (h/t KNBR 680), improved the “middle class” of San Francisco’s roster.
These additions will make the Niners a better team in 2017 under head coach Kyle Shanahan. But they’ll still win only five or six games, at most, this season.
Armed with the No. 2 overall pick, general manager John Lynch will likely have his choice of any player in the NFL Draft not named Myles Garrett. That’s a good position to be in, and it could improve if the 49ers are able to trade down in Round 1.
Like a number of teams at the bottom of NFL power rankings, the 49ers are in rebuild mode. They’ve already started the process of clearing out roster excess, which has left the cupboard pretty bare. Even quarterback Colin Kaepernick is nowhere in the picture.
But that’s the place to start, and San Francisco climbs in our rankings since the team has started to show it’s heading in the right direction.
Finally.
