No. 8: Sidney Jones, Washington

Although Washington’s Sidney Jones has a torn achilles, he still has the talent to deserve a spot on the 49ers’ cornerback big board.

Most indicative of Jones’ talent is the fact that he didn’t even allow a single touchdown in coverage during 2016.

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein calls Jones a “casino corner,” with his ability to gamble and win on certain plays.

Jones also had a blazing 40-yard dash time, coming in at 4.47 seconds at the NFL Combine.

The ex-Huskies’ corner is an excellent press corner, with elite ball skills. According to Pro Football Focus, Jones is also solid in run defense, with a 77.5 overall grade.

On the other hand, Jones only weighs 198 pounds and will likely need to tack on weight to be more physical in the NFL.

His injury at the combine might force him to miss significant time this upcoming season, but he’s definitely worth a flyer for his performance in college.
