Round 2 Pick 2 (No. 34 Overall) – QB DeShaun Watson (Clemson)

There has been talk of the 49ers potentially taking DeShaun Watson with the second overall pick. That seems like a significant reach, but the hero of Clemson’s National Championship win would be good value at No. 34 should this scenario come to pass.

Most are familiar with Watson due to his exploits on the biggest stage in college football, but he continues to divide opinion due to his often poor decision-making and inconsistent deep ball accuracy.

But Watson is a big threat with both his arm and legs, can throw with velocity into tight windows – showcasing accuracy and timing over the middle – and touch downfield and has perhaps the best footwork of any quarterback in the draft.

Few 49ers quarterbacks in recent times have thrived in pressure moments, Watson has history of doing so in college and, for a second-round pick, it is worth seeing if he can do the same in the pros.
