The Analytics

When comparing the numbers of all these pass-rushers, there is much to take into account that isn’t specific to the math.

First and foremost, in my mind, is competition. By this, I mean that they all did not play in the same conference, they all did not have the same schedule and played different lengths of time with their respective teams.

For the purpose of simplicity, we will look at two prospects over a three-year period in the South Eastern Conference (SEC).  Texas A&M prospect Myles Garrett and Tennessee prospect Derek Barnett.

We will then retrospectively look at two players, who can somewhat equate situationally, that have already been drafted and earned their NFL status since. The players I have chosen for this part of the analysis are Miami Dolphins DE/OLB Dion Jordan and Minnesota Vikings DE/OLB Anthony Barr.

Both played in the Pac 12 Conference for four years and were first-round draft picks within a year of each other. Jordan played for The University of Oregon and Barr for UCLA. The reasoning for these subjects in this analysis will be evident in the breakdown.

The four measurables we will look at are what I feel to be the most interesting when comparing Myles Garrett to other prospects:
