Round 3, Pick No. 66 — Sidney Jones , Washington

Washington’s Sidney Jones was arguably the top-rated corner until he tore his Achilles at his pro day. This is a devastating blow for any prospect entering the draft, and he will likely slide down big boards to day two of the draft as a result.

Given the 49ers’ track record of drafting injured players, this pick may be hard to swallow. But based on his potential alone, this is worthy.

Jones is a physical corner who can press at the line and force turnovers — a difference maker who has the agility and nose for tackling  sounds like a  prime target for general manager John Lynch.
