No. 32: Cornerback Chidobe Awuzie, Colorado

The last player on Rob Rang’s big board (the Round 1 portion) is Colorado cornerback Chidobe Awuzie.

Colorado is churning out two exceptional corners in this year’s draft, the other Ahkello Witherspoon, who is likely a day-two option.

At 6-foot-0 and 202 pounds, the better-known Awuzie can play on the outside or over the slot. He’s done both and could translate his skill set over to the NFL level.

Awuzie, a native of nearby San Jose, is already someone on San Francisco’s radar.

According to general manager John Lynch (h/t Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee), the Niners will be bringing in the talented cornerback at some point this week.

Awuzie might end up being an ideal fit in a Cover 3-type scheme, especially considering the long-term abilities of him lining up anywhere within the secondary.
