NFL Free Agency: Grading All the Moves from Day One

Brock Osweiler Trade
One thing is clear, there is no consensus among the football community when it comes to this trade between the Cleveland Browns and the Houston Texans.
Some have quickly dismissed the trade as the Browns doing what the Browns do — self-inflicted damage. Some have claimed that the trade was proof of the Browns finally doing something smart.
In truth, the decision to make this trade was of course a benefit for both teams. In essence, the Texans wanted a way to get rid of quarterback Brock Osweiler and his unsightly contract, while the Browns wanted additional draft-day capital.
So, the Browns (with their $100 million dollar salary cap) take one Osweiler contract and get a second-round pick, while the Texans dump Osweiler and get a fourth- and a fifth-round pick.

Now, time for this sportswriter to speculate as many other writers are doing with this trade. It is not secret the Texans are gearing up to lure former Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo. What they couldn’t do before was afford him.
By removing Osweiler, they resolve that issue and can now make a full on press for Romo.
The Browns have their own QB issues as in they do not have their franchise guy. No, Osweiler is not the answer. In fact, they will more than likely cut him soon.
All they did was buy a second-round pick.
It appears that they are gearing up to make their own trade proposal for New England Patriots backup QB Jimmy Garoppolo.
The Patriots have made it known that they desire two first-round picks for Garoppolo.
By purchasing an additional second-round pick, the Browns may be more inclined to trade for Garoppolo this offseason.
