NFL Scouting Combine: 5 Players Who Saw Their Stock Fall
No. 4: CB Teez Tabor
Coming into this weekend, Tabor boldly made the claim “that he was the best player in this upcoming draft.”
Naturally, it’s good to see star prospects come out with that kind of confidence. But in this case, Tabor wasn’t able to back it up with his performance on the field.
For cover corners, speed is an essential trait. If cornerbacks cannot run with the wide receivers, there’s nothing that they can do to stop them. Typically, it’s ideal for corners to run less than a 4.50 second 40-yard dash.
Tabor posted a 4.68 second 40-yard dash, slower than fellow Gator teammate, Quincy Wilson. Speed was a concern for Tabor coming into the draft, but not many expected him to be this slow.
Lance Zierlein of NFL.com nailed it with Tabor’s draft profile, claiming that his size and quickness are ideal, but his forty time will be interesting to see.
Tabor didn’t necessarily impress with his bench press either, as he posted only nine reps.
Overall, he was probably expected to go in the first round and be the second or third cornerback taken behind CB Marshon Lattimore and CB Marlon Humphrey. But he might even fall further after this dud of a performance.
