5 Players the 49ers Must Avoid in NFL Free Agency
By Ken Wang
Wide Receive Terrelle Pryor Sr.
Pryor was a revelation in 2016.
The ex-Raider quarterback-turned wide receiver totaled over 1,000 receiving yards in his first season as a wideout. He also totaled five touchdowns, four receiving and one rushing, despite the fact that he was probably the most talented QB on that roster. He did all that in a contract year, which will earn him a pretty penny on the open market.
Though the 49ers need a versatile playmaker like Pryor, he does come with question marks.
A total of 37.3 percent of his receiving yards came in three games. Half of his touchdowns came in one. The end numbers look pretty, but the consistency wasn’t there. Spotrac estimates that Pryor is going to make $8.9 million per year on the open market.
For a rebuilding franchise, that’s too much of an investment for an unknown commodity.
