Chicago Bears

Head coach John Fox and quarterback Jay Cutler. Need we say more?

True, Cutler could be cut from his current contract this offseason without substantial damage to the Chicago Bears’ current cap situation, which isn’t bad. And there are some pieces on the defensive side of the ball to get excited about.

But it looks as if this is a team in need of a complete rebuild at every other spot. And that starts with Fox.

Fox should have been on the hot seat last offseason, and it’s a bit of a head-scratcher why he’s still around. Just ask Robert Zeglinski of Windy City Gridiron:

"Fox’s second season in Chicago was supposed to result in a playoff berth – as he enjoyed with the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers previously. Yet somehow, the Bears have regressed. Regarding Fox, well, the results in conjunction with his own words speak for themselves. In two seasons on the lakefront, the Chicago Bears have never been above .500 with head coach John Fox. Through 25 games, they are just a paltry 8-17."

Here’s why Chicago is in a worse situation than San Francisco — the 49ers admitted a reboot was necessary. The Bears have done nothing of the sort.

Instead, they keep clinging to the idea the status quo will work somehow, someday.

It won’t.
