The Washington Redskins have a few needs, especially an aging receiving corps. But upgrades to the defense would help take some of the pressure off likely-to-be-re-signed quarterback Kirk Cousins and Co.
Michigan State defensive lineman Malik McDowell has the ability to line up anywhere on the defensive line, which would give the Redskins some added flexibility and playmaking firepower.
He may not be a preeminent pass-rusher. But McDowell is the kind of run-stuffing lineman capable of creating enough pressure to allow Washington’s other pass-rushers to converge on opponents’ quarterbacks with greater ease.
The Redskins need just that.
