Jets vs. 49ers: Previewing Week 14 for San Francisco
By Peter Panacy
Game Information
The 49ers host the Jets on Sunday, December 11 at Levi’s Stadium. Kickoff is at 4:05 p.m. ET, and the game can be viewed on your local CBS affiliate if you’re in the coverage area.
For those not able to view local broadcasts, you may always stream the game using NFL Game Pass.
Odds Shark actually lists the Niners as 2.5-point favorites during this contest, with a predicted score of 25.1 to 20.5 in favor of New York — a situation not unlike last week, when San Francisco was favored over Chicago but the predicted score went the Bears’ way.
Why the 49ers Win
For San Francisco to earn its second victory, the defense will need to ensure running back Matt Forte’s season-long struggles on the ground continue. And the Niners can ill afford to let Bryce Petty look like a solid upper-tier quarterback — something they let Matt Barkley of the Bears do in Week 13.
Running back Carlos Hyde also needs to get the edge over New York’s stout run defense, but quarterback Colin Kaepernick needs to make plays as well.
Even a marginal improvement over last week’s abysmal efforts might be enough to give the 49ers a much-needed win.

Why the Jets Win
The opposite of above. Simple as that.
Few probably predicted Barkley would be a star in the Bears’ victory over the 49ers. But he was, and especially from the two-minute mark of the first half onward.
New York has a better receiving corps than Chicago too. And one might argue the lowly Niners defense is the perfect recipe for turning around the Jets’ offensive woes.

And if New York’s front-seven defense manages to frustrate Kaepernick, Hyde and Co. long enough, Sunday’s game might wind up being yet another ugly chapter in this painful season for San Francisco.
