3. Who Can Make Big Plays?

After the first two games of the season, there is one thing that is evidently clear: the Niners lack playmakers on offense.

There are options for the Niners, most notably bringing Dres Anderson off the practice squad to inject a potential deep threat into the offense. In the preseason game vs the Denver Broncos, Anderson hauled in a 30-yard catch. Preseason is preseason. But the potential for a big play is so lacking right now, why not give Anderson a chance?

The team has Torrey Smith as their No. 1 receiver. Smith would be a third receiving option on most teams. And while Quinton Patton has shown flashes of playmaking ability, the team needs more production and consistent third down conversions to help move the chains and score in the red zone.

The lack of having a stud receiver who can just go up and make a play on a ball or get separation from the defensive back leaves quarterback Blaine Gabbert trying to throw into tighter windows.

This certainly doesn’t help the confidence or invoke a lot of trust with regards to Gabbert.  Which leads me to the next big question that the Niners need to answer.
