Wide receiver position remains a mystery

If it’s one position the 49ers are not set on, it’s the wide receiver spot. It has been the worst unit of the preseason for the 49ers and nobody is separating themselves among the rest.

Veteran WR Torrey Smith is cemented as the number one guy. But even he hasn’t looked the part. Friday’s contest was filled with ugly play across the board.

Easy catches to extend drives were dropped, ultimately putting the defense back on the field where they were almost the entire game.

It’s a passing league and if the WR unit doesn’t find a way to get into a rhythm then scoring points will once again be a stat that the 49ers finish at the bottom of the league.
