San Francisco 49ers: Bubble-Watch Players for Each Position
By Bobby Horne
Tight End
Vance McDonald
Former second-round pick Vance McDonald is entering his fourth season with the 49ers and, outside of some stellar run blocking, has really not had any offensive production with the team. He tends to drop easy catches and has become a liability in the passing game.
With former fullback, turned tight end Bruce Miller now in the mix, it’s going to be McDonald’s toughest training camp yet. Miller shows exceptional run blocking and is trusted catching the football. If he picks up the offense he might just nudge out McDonald. It’s going to be a very intriguing matchup.
Busta Anderson
Busta Anderson might just be a casualty to the numbers game. Coach Kelly doesn’t use the TE position all too much (utilizing multiple wide receivers instead) and it doesn’t seem like the team is going to keep more than three TEs here.
Anderson is a very talented player who can play in this league, but with this scheme, will have a hard time earning a spot.
