Cornerback

All-Decade CBs: Tarell Brown and Carlos Rogers

This one was a little tough, at least between former 49ers cornerbacks Carlos Rogers and Chris Culliver.

In reality, both had one really good season for San Francisco. For Rogers, it was 2011 — a year in which he posted 19 passes defended and six interceptions en route to a Pro Bowl nod. For Culliver, that year was in 2014. Culliver posted four picks and 15 passes defended.

And he finished with great reviews, per Jeff Deeney of Pro Football Focus:

But Rogers’ Pro Bowl selection gives him the edge.

And on the other side, former Niner cornerback Tarell Brown gets the call for his solid consistency between 2011 and 2013. Brown never had any fewer than 12 passes defended over that stretch.

Current San Francisco corner Tramaine Brock gets an honorable mention here though. His ascendance in recent seasons was a primary reason why the 49ers were comfortable letting both Brown and Culliver walk via free agency.

Who knows though? Maybe current 49ers defensive back Jimmie Ward, who is on the climb, makes this list here soon.
