San Francisco 49ers: The All-Decade Team from 2010 through 2016
By Peter Panacy
The San Francisco 49ers have had more than a few notable players donning the red and gold throughout the franchise’s history. But what about this current decade? Niner Noise takes a look at the best players on the team’s roster dating back to 2010 in this all-decade feature.
The San Francisco 49ers may have fallen on hard times in 2015 and are entering a 2016 season with more than a few questions.
But fans can recall a good portion of the 2010 decade has actually been pretty good for this franchise, and the team has boasted quite a number of very solid players during that span.
All-time rosters and best-player lists for the red and gold are typically pretty easy to assess. Fans know the best franchise quarterback would be Joe Montana — or maybe Steve Young — and the best wide receiver would be Jerry Rice.
But what if we condensed the all-time greats into this decade so far? That list gets a little more interesting.
So, in this Niner Noise slideshow, we break down San Francisco’s all-decade team from 2010 through the present day.
There may be changes to this list as the decade rolls on. Who knows, maybe a few of the current young players on the 49ers roster break into this list at some point? Let’s hope so.
To qualify, a player must have suited up for the Niners for at least two seasons during the decade and made some substantial impact — both statistically and in terms of accolades and playmaking ability — over the course of his tenure.
Let’s start off with special teams.
