Who’s struggling so far in the OTAs?

After the first two weeks of the OTAs, the player who has struggled the most has been wide receiver Quinton Patton.

Going into his fifth season, and with him somewhat sitting on the receiver bubble as it is, this is not good news.

Grant Cohn of the Press Democrat explains the current malaise of Patton:

"Caught zero passes during team drills and created no separation from cornerbacks. Telegraphed one curl route and allowed nickel back Chris Davis to jump the throw and pick it off."

Considering he is known for his quickness, this is disturbing that he is not creating any separation on his routes. We won’t know if he is carrying an injury, but at this point of his career he should be easily accounting for Davis in practice.

Maybe he will be left to just kick return duties:

In any case, the next OTA practice and minicamp will be crucial for Patton to make rapid improvement, or his place on the team will be in jeopardy.
