Offensive Rookie MVP: Eric Rogers

Rogers is a very intriguing talent. He is the team’s tallest receiver at 6’3″. He has played at the Arena Football League and Canadian Football League level. So, even if he is not technically a “rookie”, his overall experience already places him ahead of the other rookies and the UDFAs.

He has had a good start in the initial OTAs, as 49ers.com writer Taylor Price notes:

"Rogers’ impressive wingspan was noticeable at the team’s open OTA session on Tuesday. He caught several intermediate and deep passes, all while showcasing his ability to secure possession in crowded areas."

You can see his talent in these individual drills, per Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area:

After losing their most dependable receiver in Boldin, and with the overall lack of production from Bruce Ellington and Quinton Patton, the Niners need another reliable option to complement Torrey Smith.

Though sixth-round pick Aaron Burbridge has the chance to be another nice option in a year or two, the need is now and Rogers has the experience and talent to take hold on the offense. He makes catching the football look effortless.

If he keeps progressing throughout the rest of camp, he should be easily starting games. And if he is starting games and making an impact, then he should be the team’s offensive rookie MVP in 2016.
