Running Back

Carlos Hyde– No surprise here. Just stay healthy, Carlos.

Kelvin Taylor– Taylor provides a different running-style to contrast Hyde. He’ll likely get around 5-10 touches per game his rookie season and it’ll be primarily to give Hyde a rest.

Shaun Draughn– Draughn may be the best receiving back on the entire roster. In Chip Kelly’s system, those players find a home. He filled in well last year and has earned a chance to stick around.

DuJuan Harris– The choice for the fourth running back came down to Harris and Davis. Yes, Davis is entering his second season and should see some improvement but the 49ers can’t let Harris walk because of that. Send Davis to the practice squad and keep Harris on the active roster. He showed flashes of explosiveness in late 2015.

Starter: Carlos Hyde. But if he gets hurt, the team will turn to Draughn. In his rookie season, Taylor is merely a complimentary piece.
