2016 NFL Draft: Early Projections for 49ers 11 Picks
By Rob Lowder
Fahn Cooper, OL, Ole Miss
The final pick of the sixth round, Fahn Cooper is the Ole Miss offensive lineman that you have not heard about.
While top lineman prospect, and the now infamous Laremy Tunsil served his 2015 suspension, Cooper stepped in a did not miss a beat.
Unlike some of the Theus complaints, Cooper has the look of a complete NFL offensive lineman, with positive marks in the run game making him a predictable target for Kelly’s offense.
Dan Brugler and Rob Rang of CBSSports.com cite Cooper’s positive outlook:
"Does a nice job in the run game, using his body angles to seal run lanes and generate movement at the point of attack. Shows the ability to peel off his initial block and engage the linebacker at the second level to give the running back options. Stood out as a pass protector in one-on-one drills at the East-West Shrine Game. Hasn’t played at guard before but possesses the bulk and strength to potentially handle this switch should his NFL team need him there."
It is unclear where the 49ers plan to focus Cooper’s efforts, but no matter where he goes, he will provide quality depth with the outside chance of gaining a starting role.
Projection: Competitive Depth
