2016 NFL Draft: Mocking the Top 10 Picks of Tonight’s Draft
7. Laquan Treadwell, Wide Receiver, Ole Miss
The San Francisco 49ers biggest need is at wide receiver.
Unless the 49ers believe Eric Rogers from the CFL or 2015 fourth-round pick DeAndre Smelter can become their No. 1 receiver, they must select a pass-catcher early in tonight’s draft.
They have a bunch of unproven wideouts in Bruce Ellington, Quinton Patton, DeAndrew White and Dres Anderson. While Torrey Smith is a solid No. 2 receiver, the rest are all question marks.
Now it’s possible that the Niners feel that they haven’t succeeded thus far because of a combination of poor quarterbacking and offensive line play. That is certainly very possible.
But two years ago, the 49ers had plans to draft New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., but it just didn’t materialize. The 49ers must quit playing around and grab a No. 1 target as it is necessary to win a championship.
A few days ago, Treadwell revealed a pre-draft visit with San Francisco. Hopefully this tells the story of their draft plans down in Santa Clara.
