5. Week 1 versus Los Angeles Rams

The 49ers jump right into it facing the “new” LA Rams at Levi’s Stadium. The Rams always play the 49ers tough, and there is the added wrinkle with either messengers Jared Goff or Carson Wentz likely under center. Facing a rookie QB should favor the 49ers, however with a whole new coaching staff and new schemes, perhaps the advantage isn’t as pronounced.

It will be interesting to see how many of the die-hard old LA Rams fans make the trip to Santa Clara. This will be an important game for both teams to start with a division win, but even more so for the 49ers who have two brutal games to follow.

A loss here could doom the 49ers to a 0-3 start to the year. If the 49ers can duplicate their Monday Night Football magic from Week 1, 2015 against the Minnesota Vikings, they will be fine.

But just who suits up as the 49ers QB for this game? Blaine Gabbert? Colin Kaepernick? Someone from the draft?

The promise of a new season and the unknown makes should make this an exciting game.
