Round 6 Pick 3 (No. 178 Overall)

The Pick: WR Mike Thomas, Southern Mississippi

While he is far from polished as a route-runner and had some issues with drops, Southern Mississippi’s Mike Thomas has the upside to contribute at the receiver position.

Thomas uses his quick feet to help him gain an immediate step on the defender at the beginning of his route and has the leaping ability and body control to go up and high-point the football and make circus catches. He would be a valuable addition to a group of wideouts that is arguably the worst in the league.

Round 6 Pick 32 (No. 207 Overall)

The Pick: CB James Bradberry, Samford

Samford prospect James Bradberry is not quite as highly rated as former college team-mate Jaquiski Tartt, who the 49ers drafted in the second round last year, but reuniting the pair would be an astute move.

At 6’1″ and 211 pounds, Bradberry is a long and athletic corner who can mirror receivers in man coverage and plays with intelligence in run support, hitting with the same physicality Tartt has displayed in his time with the Niners.

It is unclear whether Bradberry will be a corner or safety at the next level, however, with his physical gifts, he is certainly worth spending a late-round pick on.

Round 6 Pick 36 (No. 211 Overall)

The Pick: FS Tyvis Powell, Ohio State

San Francisco has plenty of players who can operate at safety yet, with Eric Reid still something of a concern because of his concussion history and Antoine Bethea moving towards the latter stages of his career, there is nothing wrong with adding further resources at the position.

Tyvis Powell was overshadowed by Vonn Bell at Ohio State but had eight interceptions in three years with the Buckeyes, showing the athleticism to be effective in coverage and chase sideline-to-sideline in the running game. Extra depth on the back end is never a bad thing, and Powell possesses the tools to potentially develop into a starter.

Round 6 Pick 38 (No. 213 Overall)

The Pick, ILB Antonio Morrison, Florida

San Francisco would ideally like to grab an inside linebacker earlier in the draft, but could do worse than to bring in Antonio Morrison, who – in spite of his lack of size and multiple knee surgeries following the 2014 Birmingham Bowl – was a menace in the backfield in 2015, posting 11 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.

Morrison reads the run game well, closes quickly and plays with pop in his pads. He is also capable of holding his own in both man and zone coverage and is a good project at inside linebacker to groom behind NaVorro Bowman, Gerald Hodges and Michael Wilhoite with the hope of him eventually competing to start.
