2016 NFL Draft: San Francisco 49ers Mock of Mocks for April 1
By Peter Panacy
Round 3: C Jack Allen, Michigan State
49ers fans can tell you how disastrous the team’s offensive line was in 2015. There isn’t much of an argument there.
The O-line revolves around its center, and incumbent starter Daniel Kilgore simply isn’t cutting it. An anonymous source close to Kilgore stated the veteran was considering a move from the NFL to the CFL to be closer to some of his private off-the-field investments he’s made north of the border.
So it seems likely San Francisco will need a replacement for him.
With fellow interior lineman Marcus Martin all but guaranteed the left guard starting job, the 49ers will elect to tab Michigan State center Jack Allen in Round 3.
Allen is ready to start in Week 1 and would be an immediate anchor for the Niners O-line in 2016.
There couldn’t be a better pick in the round.
