2016 NFL Draft: 5 Under-The-Radar Prospects the 49ers Should Target
By Rob Lowder
Jeff Driskel, QB, Louisiana Tech
Draft Stock: Round 6 to 7
Alongside Oregon’s Vernon Adams Jr., Jeff Driskel is one of the more intriguing day-three quarterbacks in this year’s draft.
Although Jeff Driskel struggled at Florida during his early collegiate career, he found much more success upon transferring to Louisiana Tech. Enough success to cause scouts to reevaluate whether or not he had a future in the NFL.
Driskel checks many of the boxes when it comes to ideal traits for a quarterback.
At 6’4″ and 235 pounds, he looks the part. Couple that size with a 4.5 second forty-yard dash along with the arm talent to make every throw on the route tree and you have a late-round prospect that, with work, may be molded into something far more valuable.
Driskel is also said to be a tremendous leader on and off the field and from Baalke’s standpoint, there is certainly a lot to like.
The task of finding hidden talent within the later rounds of the NFL draft is a unique challenge for NFL general managers.
This is also a challenge in which Baalke has shown a reasonable amount of success. Can we expect to see the same this year?
