San Francisco 49ers: Latest News & Rumors Before 2016 NFL Free Agency
By Peter Panacy
Quarterback Sam Bradford Didn’t Want to Play for Head Coach Chip Kelly in San Francisco
With the quarterbacking controversy all about the 49ers’ camp in Santa Clara, it would have been easy to speculate whether or not there could be a possible reunion between Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford and his former head coach Chip Kelly.
After all, Kelly was the guy who brought Bradford into the Eagles organization in 2015 in exchange for former Philadelphia, turned St. Louis Rams quarterback Nick Foles.
Bradford signed a two-year extension on March 1, which negates any possible free-agent deal between him and San Francisco.
And, per Eagles beat writer Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Bradford never even considered joining his former head coach with the latter’s new team.
There’s a good chance most 49ers fans are happy with this as Bradford’s success in the NFL has been marred more by injuries and inconsistency. Yet the quarterback’s remarks aren’t exactly a ringing endorsement for Kelly either.
So will this be yet another tick against Kelly, which may hinder the Niners’ abilities to lure in free agents this offseason?
Likely.
