2016 NFL Draft: Complete Mock for 49ers in Each Round
Round 6 (from Denver): Kolby Listenbee, WR, TCU
The 49ers pick again in the sixth round thanks to the Vernon Davis trade.
Kolby Listenbee averaged 19 yards per catch in 2015, with blazing speed and a good ability to adjust to passes allowing him to get open deep down field. He runs the 100-meter dash in 10.03 seconds, and could run the fastest 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.
So what’s he doing down at the end of the sixth round? Well, he’s sort of a one-trick-pony; he doesn’t really block, his breaks aren’t crisp, and he sometimes is too late to turn around and spot the ball. He’s only 183 pounds, too, so he’s not very sturdy. It’s all about blazing straight-line speed with Listenbee.
That might be something the 49ers can work with. You can teach route running. You can teach blocking. You can work on sharpening up cuts and things of that nature. You can’t teach a guy to run a 10-second 100-meter dash. That speed will get him a ticket into a camp somewhere.
Other players considered:
- Cassanova McKinzy, OLB, Auburn
- DeMarcus Washington, WR, Florida
- J. Dillon, S, West Virginia
