No. 22: Houston Texans

2015 Record: 9-7

The Pick: QB Connor Cook, Michigan State

So what exactly is the Houston Texans’ situation at quarterback? Is it Brian Hoyer or Ryan Mallett?

Whatever the case may be, the Texans need a quarterback. And they need one now. With the upper echelon of signal-callers already off the board, Houston may have to spend this pick on a future quarterback since one of starting caliber may not be around for their next pick.

Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook has plenty of flaws and some character concerns. But he fits the mold of being an NFL-ready guy under center.

In the worst-case scenario, the Texans would be able to at least groom Cook to take over in 2017 if he wasn’t ready to go in Week 1 of the upcoming season.

But who knows after what fans saw last year.
