San Francisco 49ers: 5 Players Who Disappointed in 2015
By Peter Panacy
Linebacker Corey Lemonier
Another third-round player, who has gone to “bust” status, is outside linebacker Corey Lemonier. And remember, the 49ers traded up to get him in Round 3 of the 2013 NFL draft.
Lemonier’s 2013 and 2014 campaigns were disappointments. 2015 was no different. The former Auburn pass-rusher didn’t have any moves outside of a straight bull rush, and would frequently be seen being pushed behind the pocket by opponents’ pass blockers.
And then there was this:
Lemonier entered the season with just one sack to his credit but had an opportunity to finally step up and seize the opportunity when the 49ers parted with linebacker Aldon Smith for his off-the-field altercations with the law.
But that never materialized.
Pro Football Focus gave Lemonier a minus-9.2 overall grade on the season, and the third-year pro finished the season with just eight tackles over 10 games played.
He likely won’t figure into San Francisco’s long-term plans.
