The 2013 NFL Draft is finally here for the San Francisco 49ers with the first round taking place tonight, the second and third rounds on Friday and rounds 4-7 on Saturday. Below is all the information you need to follow the 49ers at the NFL Draft that kicks off tonight from Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

(Stay tuned to Niner Noise.com throughout all three days of the draft for breaking news, updates and reactions with analysis of the 49ers selections.)

49ers Draft Picks:

13 Total Picks:

Round 1, Pick 31 (31)

Round 2, Pick 2 (34) (From Chiefs)

Round 2, Pick 29 (61)

Round 3, Pick 12 (74) (From Panthers)

Round 3, Pick 31 (93)

Round 4, Pick 31 (128)

Round 4, Pick 34 (131) (Compensatory Selection)

Round 5, Pick 24 (157) (From Colts)

Round 6, Pick 5 (173) (From Eagles through Browns)

Round 6, Pick 12 (180) (From Dolphins)

Round 7, Pick 31 (237)

Round 7, Pick 40 (246) (Compensatory Selection)

Round 7, Pick 46 (252) (Compensatory Selection)

Team Needs:

Safety: With former starting safety Dashon Goldson now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 49ers will address the safety position early in the draft. Don’t be surprised if they move up in the first round to select the top safety available.

Defensive line: The defense showed last season that when Justin and Aldon Smith go down with injuries or are limited because of being hurt, the defense suffers big time. The D-line needs a lot of help.

Wide Receiver: Despite the addition of Anquan Boldin, and hopefully the emergence of A.J. Jenkins, the 49ers will need to address wide receiver with one of their early round picks. Don’t forget, both Kyle Williams and Mario Mannigham are coming off ACL injuries, so the Niners will need some insurance at receiver.

Cornerback: Sure, Carlos Rogers and Tarell Brown are good players to start for the 49ers, but they could use some new talent as both CBs struggled late last season and the playoffs. The addition of Nnamdi Asomugha will help at cornerback, but like Rogers he is getting older, so the Niners need to find younger players to groom for the future.

Tight end: With Delaine Walker now with the Tennessee Titans, the Niners don’t have much depth at tight end after Vernon Davis. It would be wise for the Niners to get some depth at tight end in the draft that can contribute right away.

Draft Schedule:

As the 2013 NFL Draft becomes a reality, many NFL Draft pundits are split on whether there are any quarterbacks worthy of a top ten selection. And although most draft analysts predict QB Geno Smith to be the first quarterback taken, the question is when? There have been rumors circling the wagon, that no quarterback in this year’s draft is worthy of a first round value, let alone being in the top ten discussion. However, some team desperate for a franchise quarterback will eventually have no choice, but to take the West Virginia product, and it won’t be until the mid 20′s of the first-round.

November 17, 2012; Columbia, MO, USA; Syracuse Orange quarterback Ryan Nassib (12) shouts to his players during the first half against the Missouri Tigers at Faurot Field. The Syracuse Orange defeated the Missouri Tigers 31-27. Mandatory Credit: Dak Dillon-USA TODAY Sports

Some NFL draft experts have penciled in QB Matt Barkley or QB Ryan Nassib to the Buffalo Bills, with the eighth overall pick. A highly likely scenario that one of those two quarterbacks could be at One Bills drive, but not with the eighth pick. If they truly covet either of those two quarterbacks, the best option is to devise a smoke-screen for a specific player such as WR Tavon Austin, and create some bargaining power for a team desperate for Austin’s services. If that happens, they can now trade back and still get their franchise signal caller.

But what about Smith? After all, Smith will in all likelihood be the first quarterback selected. However, I have bad news for him as he will have to wait until the mid 20′s to hear is name called. That’s right. Geno Smith will be the main focus in the green room, just like QB Brady Quinn and QB Aaron Rodgers. He will not be the projected top 15 talent that many people believe him to be. He will slide, and when he does, expect a team like the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, or New York Jets to trade back up into the first-round and draft him.

There is a possibility that the New York Jets could land Smith with the 13th overall pick, they received from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but that is highly unlikely, especially if NT Star Lotuleilei is still on the board. With that said, do not be surprised if Geno falls into the mid 20′s, as a team in desperation mode will then snatch his services in a heartbeat.

In my latest mock on the FanSided Network, I have sealed the envelope and locked in my guy. And while his name may surprise you, I will give you three reasons why I believe he is a great fit for the San Francisco 49ers. So without further ado, with the 31st pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers select S Duke Williams from Nevada.

I know all the hype has been surrounding FS Jonathan Cyprien from Florida International, but Williams is no slouch by any means. He plays with good range and doubles as a fearless tackler. A former sprinter, Williams is not afraid to mix it up. Aside from his physical skill set, Williams played in a bigger conference than Cyprien, which will sway GM Trent Baalke to lean towards the Mountain West Conference star.

Another reason why Williams will be the selection, is due to the fact that Baalke can’t help but prove to the world, he knows how to find talent, even at the end of each round. Last year, Baalke took a gamble on WR A.J. Jenkins which was quickly scrutinized by the media, and looks more and more like a first-round bust. However, Baalke wants to redeem himself this time around, and the selection of Williams, with other notable players on the board such as, NT Jesse Williams (Alabama), NT John Jenkins (Georgia), and DE Margus Hunt (SMU) will again stir up a debate. But then again, the NFL Draft pundits were quick to lash out at Baalke after the selection of OLB Aldon Smith, and look how that turned out. I have a gut feeling that Williams will be the choice, we will just have to wait and see.

Williams is a 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh type of guy. He is smart, hard working, and has a team first attitude. He fits the culture to a tee. It is also good to note that Williams was also in for a pre-draft visit, so he is at least talked about in the war room. When the 49ers are on the clock do not be surprised when you hear Duke Williams’ name called.
