The 2013 NFL Draft is finally here for the San Francisco 49ers with the first round taking place tonight, the second and third rounds on Friday and rounds 4-7 on Saturday. Below is all the information you need to follow the 49ers at the NFL Draft that kicks off tonight from Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

(Stay tuned to Niner Noise.com throughout all three days of the draft for breaking news, updates and reactions with analysis of the 49ers selections.)

49ers Draft Picks:

13 Total Picks:

Round 1, Pick 31 (31)

Round 2, Pick 2 (34) (From Chiefs)

Round 2, Pick 29 (61)

Round 3, Pick 12 (74) (From Panthers)

Round 3, Pick 31 (93)

Round 4, Pick 31 (128)

Round 4, Pick 34 (131) (Compensatory Selection)

Round 5, Pick 24 (157) (From Colts)

Round 6, Pick 5 (173) (From Eagles through Browns)

Round 6, Pick 12 (180) (From Dolphins)

Round 7, Pick 31 (237)

Round 7, Pick 40 (246) (Compensatory Selection)

Round 7, Pick 46 (252) (Compensatory Selection)

Team Needs:

Safety: With former starting safety Dashon Goldson now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 49ers will address the safety position early in the draft. Don’t be surprised if they move up in the first round to select the top safety available.

Defensive line: The defense showed last season that when Justin and Aldon Smith go down with injuries or are limited because of being hurt, the defense suffers big time. The D-line needs a lot of help.

Wide Receiver: Despite the addition of Anquan Boldin, and hopefully the emergence of A.J. Jenkins, the 49ers will need to address wide receiver with one of their early round picks. Don’t forget, both Kyle Williams and Mario Mannigham are coming off ACL injuries, so the Niners will need some insurance at receiver.

Cornerback: Sure, Carlos Rogers and Tarell Brown are good players to start for the 49ers, but they could use some new talent as both CBs struggled late last season and the playoffs. The addition of Nnamdi Asomugha will help at cornerback, but like Rogers he is getting older, so the Niners need to find younger players to groom for the future.

Tight end: With Delaine Walker now with the Tennessee Titans, the Niners don’t have much depth at tight end after Vernon Davis. It would be wise for the Niners to get some depth at tight end in the draft that can contribute right away.

Draft Schedule:

Looking around at various NFL mock drafts, there does not seem to be a consensus on who the San Francisco 49ers should select in the first-round. With the No. 31 pick in the first-round, it is tough to predict who will be available when the 49ers select.

A majority of mock drafts I have seen do have the 49ers picking a player on defense. That makes sense, because the one hole they need to fill on offense is at wide receiver. And I don’t see the 49ers front office selecting a wide receiver two years in a row. Especially with the non-production the team got out of wide receiver A.J. Jenkins, who was picked in the first round by San Francisco last year.

Here are some highlights of the mock drafts out there:

NFLMocks.com

FanSided.com’s own mock draft website has the 49ers selecting defensive tackle Kawann Short from Purdue: Justin Smith isn’t getting any younger, and the Niners could be losing some DL depth this offseason to free agency. Short would be a solid pickup for them.

NFL.com

Over at NFL.com they have the front office selecting cornerback Jamar Taylor from Boise St.: Taylor is one of my favorite players to watch on tape. He is physical, fast and possesses good ball skills. This might be a little earlier than expected but his style of play fits perfectly with the 49ers defense.

NationalFootballPost.com

In their current mock draft, National Football Post has general manager Trent Baalke taking defensive end Datone Jones from UCLA: After Justin Smith was injured their defense did not play at the same level during the playoffs. Jones is the versatile type of defensive linemen who can be effective rushing the passer and defending the run from any alignment, which makes him an ideal fit for the 49ers defense.

SportingNews.com

The Sporting News has the Niners selecting defensive tackle Jesse Williams from Alabama: The 49ers could use a younger linchpin at nose tackle to replace Isaac Sopoaga. Williams, the Australian sensation with the national champs, can be a mighty force in their 3-4.

FoxSports.com

Over at Fox Sports, they are claiming San Francisco will go with defensive tackle Jonathan Hankins from Ohio State: The 49ers, even before we see what they get for Alex Smith, have an insane 14 draft picks this year. Look for them to be moving all over the place. With a loaded roster of young talent, the 49ers can take the best player on the board.

Update: Click here to see Niner Noise’s latest NFL Mock draft by Ryan Sakamato. Keep checking back for updated mock drafts.
