The 49ers Blog and Q&A at the Sacramento Bee is reporting that second round draft pick Colin Kaepernick is almost fully recovered following surgery on his left leg in May. Kaepernick has been bringing his leg back to 100% by doing strength and conditioning and rehabbing his injury at Stanford Hospital. I wonder if Andrew Luck has given him a visit to talk about Jim Harbaugh’s offense. Kaepernick did attend Camp Alex but did not participate in the sessions however it was valuable for the 49ers to have him on the field watching the offense.

“I’m a little anxious for the doctors to really cut me loose and say, go ahead,” Kaepernick said. ” … I’m kind of on their time. They’re just trying to take every precaution. I feel like I might be able to do more than they think.”

This post was written by Jared Quan

It is no secret that the 49ers top issues were first defense pass rush, and second offensive line. It would not matter if it is Alex Smith, David Carr, or second round draft pick Colin Kaepernick has the ball in their hands if the offensive line breaks down. The 49ers suffered forty-four sacks, almost one in every ten passing plays. We all expect that 2010 draft picks Mike Iupati and Anthony Davis will improve over last year however injury still haunts a line that knows too much of it. Introduce Jim Harbaugh, and Trent Baalke’s choice in the seventh round Mike Person.

Mike was born, raised, and played football in Montana. He stands 6 foot 4 ½ inches, and weighs in at 299 lbs. His 32 inch arm length and 9 ½ hand size allowed him to anchor a line that had no sacks his senior year. Constantly recognized for his leadership, and tough mentality, he was awarded the Chuck Karnop Award for Toughness and D’Agostino Family Strength awards. He offers a high understanding of the game, fantastic run support, especially in the secondary, and holding up against a straight up bull rush. His mental toughness and work ethic will fit right in with the Jim Harbaugh system.

With the NFL draft almost a month behind us in a non-lockout off season the San Francisco 49ers would be getting their first looks at their recent draft picks with mini-camps. Because of the lockout recent Niner draft picks cannot workout with their new teammates at team headquarters and start learning the 49ers offense and defense. The lockout does not seem to be ending anytime soon but with what we have heard and seen about the newest 49ers who do you think will most likely to have a breakout season.
