San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree was interviewed by police on Friday night about allegations he sexually assaulted a woman after the teams win over the Green Bay Packers. It has been reported he was cooperative and agreed to be available for future interviews. Crabtree traveled with the team to Atlanta and he is expected to play on Sunday.

Crabtree was not arrested or detained, but this is not the kind of attention the team needs heading into NFC Championship Game against the Atlanta Falcons. The news will be a distraction as Crabtree will undoubtedly have to answer questions about the incident, especially if the 49ers advance to the Super Bowl and all its media attention. But I doubt this will have any affect on Crabtree’s play on the field and he will still put up big numbers against the Falcons.

A big part of Colin Kaepernick’s success has been due in part to Crabtree and the chemistry they have developed. Last week against the Packers he had nine receptions, 119 yards and two touchdowns.

49ers general manager Trent Baalke released a statement saying,

The 49ers take such matters very seriously. We will have no further comment at this time as the legal process is ongoing.

The 49ers NFC Championship loss to the Giants is only a day and a half old but it seems like the game just ended. This is the first time I have been able to write about the devastating loss. I tried multiple times yesterday to write this review, however, every time I started to rethink the game in my head, the frustration and disappointment was still too fresh to get all the way through. Usually after a 49ers game, whether it was a win or a loss, I search for as much information online and on TV to hear different insights about why San Francisco won/loss the game. Since the end the of game on Sunday I have avoided anything associated with sports. In the morning I have a routine of watching local news and ESPN’s First Take. That did not happen yesterday, or this morning because I did not want to see highlights from the game. Even with trying to avoid seeing images of the game, they still crept into my TV watching last night with a local news commercials showing a distraught Kyle Williams after fumbling the football.

This had to be the longest week of my life. Several times I dreamed of being Adam Sandler in that stupid movie with the magic remote so I could fast forward myself to Sunday. I’m always excited for Sundays during the NFL season but I cannot remember ever being this excited, can any Niner fan? Thinking back to the four of five 49er Super Bowl victories I’ve been alive to watch, they still don’t compare to this unbridled excitement coursing through my veins this time around.

Our last Superbowl was actually played in the NFC Championship game. No AFC team was going to touch the Steve Young led Niners team that sported the leagues #1 offense and defense. And the Joe Montana led 49ers of the 80′s forget about it! Excited to win those games, brag to my friends and coworkers, buy the t-shirt, of course. Running around like a mad man all week screaming random Niner Noise like “We beat the Saints!” “Superbowl is going through Candlestick baby!” to “Bring on the Giants!” or maybe “I don’t give a XXXX who we play! NOBODY is stopping the Niners this year!!!!!”

This has been the most magical season up until this point, I’m convinced it’s the 49ers destiny to win it all. I breakdown why after the break
