While watching the 49ers demolish the Jets in the second-half last week, the Patriots were simultaneously starting a historical comeback against the Bills that would end with them scoring 45 second-half points. After going up 21-7 early in the third quarter, the Bills were outscored by the Patriots 51-7. They would end the game by giving up the second-most yards in franchise history (580 yards) and committed a season-high six turnovers, including four interceptions. The defeat was infamously historic for the Bills and it could affect them this weekend against the 49ers as they will go up against San Francisco’s third ranked rushing attack in the NFL.

Against the Jets the Niners rushed for a season-high 245 yards. The 49ers offense averages 5.4 yards per carry and 167 rushing yards per game. The running game has been led by Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter and both could have big games against a Bills defense that allowed 247 rushing yards and four touchdowns last week against the Patriots. All of this was given up at a home game for the Bills. Throw in Colin Kaepernick, who showed last week defenses will have to prepare for him from now on, and the possibility of Brandon Jacobs making his regular-season debut for the 49ers, the offense will be even more forceful on the ground.

The head coach of the Bills, Chan Gailey, said on Wednesday the defense is preparing not only for Gore, Hunter and Jacobs, but also Kaepernick who had 50-yards on five carries and one touchdown last week.

That puts a lot of stress on your defense to prepare for that week in and week out. He’s (Kaepernick) done a good job of running what they’ve put in and they’ve done a good job of keeping it varied, so it’s not just the same all the time.

With Jim Harbaugh working Kaepernick into the game plan last week, the Bills are forced to prepare for an array of offensive packages that are not on film other than last week’s game. This means the Bills defense will have less time to practice for Gore and the rest of the 49ers rushing attack. On the conference call, Gailey said they are using backup QB Tyler Thigpen in practice to impersonate Kaepernick on offense. However, even Gailey acknowledged they are not the same player.

(Thigpen) can’t mimic exactly what Colin is able to do because of his size and speed. But it’s like all the rest of the players. We can’t mimic all the players either. You come as close as you possibly can.

The 49ers are looking to win their sixth straight home game over an AFC opponent this Sunday, while the Bills have lost five straight road games against NFC teams. The last time San Francisco lost to a team from the AFC at Candlestick Park was against the Titians in 2009. The 49ers will certainly look to take advantage of the Bills flaws defending against the rush, which could mean another big win for San Francisco and another huge loss for Buffalo.

It’s halftime in San Francisco and the 49ers came out charging at the Bucs. In a bold move 49ers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh showing confidence in his defense after winning the coing toss deferred to the Bucs. The 49ers D proved him right and forced a punt, after a nice return by Ted Ginn Jr the 49ers marched down the field. Capping off the possession with a TD pass to Tight End Delaine Walker.

The Bucs put together a nice drive of their own to follow it up and took it down the field rather quickly on the 49ers Defense. A couple nice runs by Lagarrett Blount and some Josh Freeman completions put the Bucs in striking distance. The team had settle for a FG as the 49ers red zone defense held up giving up only a FG.

Early 1st Quarter Observation Alex Smith seems to really be getting the football out really fast. And I had no idea you could run the power run with so many differnt variations.

Frank Gore with a really costly fumble in the red zone for the 49ers. Can’t complain too much about Gore this is rare for him. Before I could even finish writing that last sentence Carlos Rogers takes an INT 31 yards for a 49er TD!

The secondary comes up big after the Josh Freeman throws yet another INT to rookie CB Chris Culliver who made a nice 23 yard return to put the 49ers offense within striking distance. A couple Gore runs and a big pass interference penalty on a TD pass attempt to Vernon Davis put the 49ers just yards away from another TD. The 49ers stuck with the power run and after a couple attempts Frank Gore lunged through for another TD. After David Akers added the extra point the 49ers now have a commanding 21-3 lead.

Don’t get comfortable though 49ers, after all the 49ers just overcame a 20-3 halftime lead to the Eagles last week, it can happen.

Once again the 49ers are winning due to the turnover ratio which they lead the league in currently. Expect the 49ers to pound the running game in the 2nd half and try and wear out Tampa Bay while running out the clock.

Snap Reactions:

Alex Smith looks AWESOME- Alex should have had another TD pass to Walker on that 2nd Q rollout but Walker wasn’t in position to make the catch.
Defensive Backfield looks amazing
Frank Gore has erased all notions that he has “slowed down”
The Carlos Rogers signing has been money for the 49ers, Rogers has 3 INT’s in the last 3 games.
Ricky Jean Francois has played well in Isaac Sopoaga’s absence
Chris Culliver has played exceptionally well with the 49ers thin at CB today.
This team looks more prepared for it’s opponet than any Mike Singletary every prepared in his life
Aldon Smith NEEDS TO PLAY EVERY FREAKING DOWN!
Maybe I was wrong about Ted Ginn Jr-do what you want bro
Jim Harbaugh is showing a TON more confidence in Alex Smith as the offense has been completley opened up in this game.
