Welcome to the Week 13 edition of Hamm’s Pigskins of the Week. My weekly feature here at Niner Noise where I recognize the top Niners of the week. Enjoy.

Alex Smith Offense-17/23 274 yards 2 TDs 0 INTs- Smith was masterful against the Rams. He was hitting targets in stride, leading them before they were even open at times. Hitting on the deep ball and should have had over 300 yards and a third TD but Vernon Davis dropped a wide open perfectly thrown TD pass. The way some of these 49er players are playing right now that are in contract years, Smith included, the team needs to get on the phone with some agents, if they haven’t already, let’s hope they have. More on that in a later post. Someone hand Alex another Pigskin please!

Frank Gore Honorary-21 carries for 73 yards is ok, it’s not a very great day, especially considering he didn’t score a TD. But when you break an all time franchise record. You get a Pigskin, bottom line. Congrats Frank!

So just as I predicted the Rams were zero competition for the 49ers as they steamrolled them 26-0. The Niners dominated on both sides of the ball shutting down the Rams offense even without their best player linebacker Patrick Willis. Willis went down with a right hamstring injury in the first half and was held out of the rest of the game as a precaution. P52 will have an MRI within the next couple of days but his injury isn’t considered serious. He was seen walking around on the sidelines chumming it up with teammates (watch how it’s done Deshaun Jackson).

The Rams did absolutely nothing on offense to speak of. They could barley manage a 1st down and never got the ball far enough into 49ers territory to pose any real scoring threat. The Rams best player running back Stephen Jackson did nothing and the Rams were forced to go to the air the majority of the second half after the 49ers opened it up.

Gore’s record, clinching the West, and more after the jump
