Even if you are not a big fan of the New York Giants or New England Patriots it will be hard to resist the Super Bowl possibilities as this is a Super Sunday matchup for the ages.

The New England Patriots may be the favorite over the Giants with the Super Bowl odds but many experts are picking the Giants to win. And they have some very good reasons.

First the Giants have covered the spread in 5 of their last 6 meetings with New England and have won the last 2 meetings straight up including an earlier matchup this season 24-20 as 9 point road dogs at New England. The dog has gotten the money in 5 of the last 6 matchups between the two teams as well.

Next, Quarterback Eli Manning of the Giants has stepped up his game with a 103.1 quarterback rating, which is significantly higher than his 92.9 QB rating of the regular season.

The Giants defense is allowing just 13 points per game during the playoffs compared to 25 points per game in the regular season.

But the Patriots have plenty going for them as well starting with the revenge factor for losing the February 2008 Super Bowl to the Giants which ruined their dreams of the glory of a perfect 19-0 season.

Brady has a 105.8 QB rating for the playoffs which is remarkably similar to his 105.6 regular season QB rating. Brady seems to get better with age and is now being compared to such legends as Joe Montana and Bart Starr as far as being the ultimate championship quarterback and master field general.

The Patriots defense has also shown marked improvement in the playoffs as they have allowed just 15 points per game compared to 21.4 points per game in the regular season.

Many point to the Giants 9-7 regular season record as a negative along with the fact that they were 6-6 and riding a 4 game losing streak in early December. That is countered by New England dodging two major bullets in the AFC Championship game as the Baltimore Ravens dropped a sure touchdown pass only to blow the ensuing game tying chip shot field goal attempt in the final seconds.

With the Giants Tom Coughlin and Patriots Bill Belichick it will be a Super Sunday of coaching greatness. In a matchup that has it all, this will likely be the most watched television event in American history.
