Despite a 1-3 start, 49ers head coach Chip Kelly has stated that he is pleased with play of quarterback Blaine Gabbert. That doesn’t bode well for Colin Kaepernick’s hope for a regular season debut. Here’s why he will be dealt to the highest bidder before the trade deadline.

After two down seasons on the offensive side of the ball, the hiring of head coach Chip Kelly was supposed to bring the San Francisco 49ers hope.

More importantly, 2016 was supposed to be a year of redemption for quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

However, after four games of supporting his team from the bench and zero pass attempts under center, Kaepernick is still slated as the backup.

In fact, the only time he’s been a part of in-game action was during the few remaining minutes of the 49ers’ Week 1 win over the Los Angeles Rams. It was the hopes of many that if No. 1 QB Blaine Gabbert underperformed, which he has substantially, Kaepernick would take over as the leader of the team.

Despite four games of lackluster play at the quarterback position, coach Kelly is choosing to stick with his current game manager.

At the moment, it doesn’t appear that Kaepernick will be leading this team to the promised land.

The 49ers organization must determine Kap’s fate once and for all. Will they start him, or pay him handsomely to hold a clipboard? Neither option seems likely. With those two situations off the table there’s only one thing left to entertain.

They need to deal the young dual-threat while he currently has some value in the market. They can do so before the deadline expires on November 1 at 4 p.m. ET. With injuries piling up around the league at the quarterback position, they shouldn’t have any trouble finding a trade partner.

Here are three reasons why Colin Kaepernick will be traded before the deadline expires.
