The San Francisco 49ers are set to kick off training camp next Friday and the team should be just a bit more interesting to watch this season. The experiment of hiring former head coach Jim Tomsula was interesting, because after serving as interim coach in 2010’s final contest, Niner fans everywhere wanted to see just how Jimmy T would do.

After hiring new head coach Chip Kelly in January, I’m sure we can all agree that the expectation will be for a more competitive team. Whether sooner or later, Kelly brings a certain “Je Ne Sais Quoi” along with his pedigree.

But the 49ers are about more than just their new coach.

They also have a quarterback controversy, which can end up like the Washington Redskins and Buffalo Bills did. Or it could spell doom already, being a sign of not having things in place.

Then there is general manager Trent Baalke. Will his draft picks develop into key foundation pieces for the future? Or, will Baalke be out of San Francisco at the end of 2016?

Finally, can the 49ers stay healthy in 2016? Will Kelly’s sport-science programs work, or will the team continue to be hit by the injury bug that’s plagued the Niners since the 2013 offseason, starting with former wide receiver Michael Crabtree’s Achilles injury?

What’s most important to watch for as the Niners end the dead period of summer and jump into training camp 2016?

Find out as Niner Noise breaks it all down.
